On a journey to make places travel into the hearts of people...

I inspire and activate destination marketing organizations, such as visitor bureaus, cities, venues, and museums to create brand exciting events and festivals that feature major sports and/or local culture.

My mission is to grow local economies with tourism.

It all began for me probably in kindergarten in Chicago, when I visited "Sue," the most extensive and best preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex specimen ever found, on display at the Field Museum... This is my earliest memory of a place that ignited curiosity, imagination, creativity, and the belief that anything was possible.

Before the computer age, I learned design and discovered colors need numbers and strategy for results, which compelled me to climb the corporate ladder for a decade in marketing. After a successful run of branding and marketing Sun Cities across America for Dell Webb Corporation, I was ready to start my own agency, JUVE Creative, Inc.

In 2001, Huntington Beach, California was investing more and developing our city as an overnight destination. As a resident, I was excited to see my home sweet home become the official "Surf City, USA" and even more thrilled my agency lead the branding and promotion efforts.

Joe Haakenson,
Co-Founder & COO

With more than 30 years experience in the media, I have a pretty good idea of what it takes to turn heads, particularly when it comes to athletic events. I'll never forget being at Yankee Stadium when the crowd was so loud and excited, the stadium literally shook beneath my feet.

I've interviewed some of the biggest names in sports, particularly from Major League Baseball, including Cal Ripken Jr., Nolan Ryan and Mike Trout, coaching legends like Joe Paterno, NBA superstar Kobe Bryant and the greatest competitive surfer of all time, Kelly Slater.

I covered the major leagues for 18 seasons as an Angels (15) and Dodgers (3) beat writer for a major Los Angeles newspaper, getting the opportunity to visit the monuments at Yankee Stadium, go inside the Green Monster at Fenway Park, and roam the green grass at the Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field.

As a freelance writer, I have published two books -- "100 Things Angels Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die," published by Triumph Books, and "Out of the Blue," which chronicles the Angels' World Series championship team in 2002.

My work also has appeared in major publications like the LA Times, The Sporting News, USA Today, Baseball America and various high-profile websites like Yahoo and FoxSports. I continue to cover major league baseball as a freelance writer, and have been a voter for baseball's Hall of Fame for more than 20 years.

With my experience, I can connect our clients to my influence in sports, and create event strategies that attract partnerships with major sports affiliations and are newsworthy for ultimate exposure.
