The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York inducts new honorees every July, based on voting from members of the Baseball Writers Association of America. To be eligible, voters must have a minimum of 10 years in the BBWAA. I first became eligible in 1998, and this is my 21st Hall ballot. Voters must follow instructions for voting, and that includes selecting no more than 10 in any given year. A notable direction on the instructions is that "a voter must consider a player's record, character, sportsmanship, and integrity." The question of "character, sportsmanship, and integrity" has played into the debate about whether known steroid users should be voted in.
