NSSA 40th Anniversary

NSSA 40th Anniversary

The NSSA — National Scholastic Surfing Association — was created in 1978 by a handful of educators who were also surfers. Their goal — change the stigma surfers have by showing these guys and gals could use their brains. Maintaining a respectable grand-point average was a requirement to compete, and 40 years later, the proof is in the pudding — many former NSSA surfers have gone on to become successful in the water and out, champions in their field of choice. Recently, the International Surfing Museum in Huntington Beach, California opened an exhibit honoring the NSSA's positive influence.
